A golden day for women’s fencing at the Amazon Open XII
6/9/15
The Amazon Open, held on June 7 at DC Fencers Club, was a smashing success. For the twelfth year running, Valerie Asher organized this women’s tournament, which has become one of the strongest on the East Coast. An intrepid supporter of women’s fencing, Valerie offered an inspiring speech on the capacity of the participants to help other women up and help them out, in fencing and beyond.
Thanks to meet manager Lewis Sloter, his deputy Katelyn Keegan, our referees, and our families and friends for your support. We salute Laura Johnson for sponsoring a beautiful sabre trophy, to be engraved with the names of each year’s winners.Fencers came from as far as Boston and Cleveland to participate in the competition.
We congratulate the following fencers on their top eight results and thank all the fencers for getting in the game.
