What is fencing?
Modern fencing is an Olympic sport with roots in European sword-fighting of centuries past. Today, fencing is a competitive sport of finesse, skill, strategy and endurance. Fencing offers children and teens a positive physical activity, and is often called “physical chess” for its strategic and mental challenges. And fencing is fun!
Summer Fencing Camps at DC Fencers Club
Our summer fencing camps introduce young people to the many benefits of this Olympic sport. Beyond the fitness benefits, fencing promotes intellectual development, decision making skills, self discipline, and confidence. All taught in a safe, supportive environment.
This summer DCFC hosts several separate weeklong day camps for children ages 7 and up. Camps are open to beginner through intermediate fencers, and equipment and uniforms are provided.
There is always something new to learn at fencing camp, since each session has a different mix of students and abilities. Students are welcome to sign-up for more than one week.
Schedule
Each week-long camp takes place Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Camps are open to youth ages 7-16. Beginner through advanced fencers are welcome. Complimentary before care starting at 9:00 a.m.; aftercare is also available.
