WHAT IS FENCING?
Modern fencing is an Olympic sport with roots in European swordfighting of centuries past. Today, fencing is a competitive sport of strategy, finesse, skill, and endurance. Moreover, fencing offers children and teens a positive physical activity, and teaches young people life skills such as confidence, focus, decisionmaking, and respect.
In beginner fencing classes, students learn the fundamentals with games, exercises, footwork, and bouting with fellow novice fencers. DCFC provides the uniforms and gear for an additional fee. Just show up ready to move, and bring a water bottle (we provide filtered water). For those who wish to purchase their own fencing gear and equipment, DCFC offers an array of merchandise. DC Fencers Club offers fencing opportunities for children, teens, and adults interested in fencing in Maryland, DC and North Virginia metropolitan area.
