April showers of gold and more at the April North American Cup
April brought showers of gold, silver, and bronze for DCFC fencers competing at the April Division I/Wheelchair Championships and North American Cup in Baltimore, Maryland, April 21-24, 2017.
Lisa Dobloug took gold in Vet 70 Women’s Epee, a repeat of her April 2016 NAC performance. Valerie Asher won gold in Vet 50 Women’s Epee, and this win qualifies her for a spot the U.S. team competing in the Veteran World Championships in Slovenia this fall. Kaz Campe celebrated his recent eightieth birthday with a bronze in Vet 70 Men’s Epee, joined by Jim Adams and Theo Pary, who also took top eight spots in this event.
DCFC Veteran Women fencers Valerie Asher and Carole Jeandheur were joined by Susan Allen to win silver in the Veteran Women’s Epee team event. The DCFC Men’s Veteran Epee team earned eighth place with a rousing defeat of a NYAC team chock filled with Olympians such as Jon Normile and Chris O’Loughlin.
