Youth fencers a smash at the Capitol Clash
DC Fencers Club sent upwards of 50 young fencers to the 2016 Capital Clash SYC and Cadet RYC, a large regional youth circuit event at National Harbor, MD held January 15-17. Several young fencers advanced to top eight spots, and judging from the smiles we see in photos from the event, everyone had fun.
We salute all our young fencers who competed in this massive tournament. We thank our coaches for your guidance, our families for your support, and our friends for cheering on your clubmates.
A special salute goes to the following fencers who garnered top eight spots at this event.
Sam Dietrich, bronze, Cadet Men’s Epee
Yunice Pyo, seventh place, Y14 Women’s Epee
Sophie Jakel, seventh place, Y10 Women’s Epee
Jacob Asher, eighth place, Cadet Men’s Epee
Nicolas Hensal, eighth place, Y10 Men’s Epee
Liam McKinley, eighth place, 8th Y14 Men’s Epee
