Capitol Clash 2019 – Results
We had a capital time at the tenth annual Capitol Clash, held Feb. 1-3 at National Harbor, Md. This tournament featured a Super Youth Circuit event for Y10, 12, and 14 fencers, a Regional Junior Cadet Circuit event, and Y8 and Veteran events in all three weapons.
It was wonderful to meet up with friends new and old. Andrew Nosil took a weekend break from college to referee, alongside Corwin Duncan, who also dropped in from the Big Apple to call bouts. Big props to Fen Tamulonis, who was selected to ref his first SYC semifinal in Y12 women’s foil, complete with video replay. It takes a great deal of knowledge and skill to referee at these large-scale events, and we appreciate the referee cadre and bout committee for making it happen.
For several young competitors, this was their first experience at a large tournament. We salute all of our young competitors for challenging themselves, as well as their opponents, on a bigger stage.
Special kudos to those who climbed up the ranks at this event.
