2019 Veteran Fencing World Championships – Results
The Veteran Fencing World Championships are in the books. Held Oct. 5 – 11 in Cairo, Egypt, the event brought together competitors from countries around the world and proves that fencing truly is a lifelong sport.
DCFC Head Coach Janusz Smolenski was on hand to support the DCFC competitors on Team USA, and he also lent a hand to the USA Men’s Epee, coaching them to gold. Team USA defeated Team France 30-15 in the finals. We also salute Team USA Women’s Epee on earning bronze as well.
Congratulations to Valerie Asher, who cracked the top 32 (30) in the Vet 50 Women’s Epee event at the Veteran World Championships in Cairo, Egypt. After soundly defeating Barbara Gabella (ITA) 10-6 in the table of 64, Asher went 7-8 in a nailbiter against number one seed out of pools Pia Albertson (SWE) in the table of 32. We salute Valerie Asher on her sixth trip to Vet Worlds representing Team USA. Consistent good results are no easy task, and we applaud your latest turn on the world stage!
Congratulations to Joe Deucher on his debut at Vet Worlds in the Vet-50 Men’s Epee event. Joe went 3-3 in pools and chased Alessandro di Bella 10-9 in the table of 64, finishing 45th overall. Well done, Joe!
