DCFC sent more than 30 competitors in sabre and epee to the October 2012 North American Cup

The October North American Cup (NAC) is underway in St. Louis, MO. More than 30 DCFC members joined a challenging field of more than 2,000 + fencers at the first national tournament of the 2012-2013 fencing season, and a qualifying event for the 2013 Senior World Championships and 2013 Junior and Cadet Worlds. We salute all our DCFC members for your competitive spirit!
DCFC members earned medals and top 16 results at the October NAC. Several DCFC members who are currently NCAA fencers garnered top 16 honors, among them Michael Josephs (Columbia), Peter Souders (Boston College), Kat Holmes (Princeton) and James Kaull (Notre Dame).
Since this tournament features Division I events, fencers got to compete alongside several Team USA Olympic athletes, including Courtney Hurley of the Bronze medal-winning Women’s Epee Team. In Saturday’s Div 1 Epee gold medal match, Hurley clawed back from a five-point deficit to win gold over Poland’s Katarzyna Dobrawa.
DCFC members will compete Monday in Cadet Women’s Epee, Div I Women’s Sabre, and Div II Men’s Sabre. Live results can be found here: http://usafencingresults.com/nac-oct-2012/
