Fencers gather at the Jefferson Memorial for DC #fencingmob 2016

For the third year in a row, DC fencers gathered to be part of the#fencingmob global celebration of our sport. Fencers of all ages gathered on Sunday, September 18, from Chile to Hong Kong to our very own Washington DC.

Thanks to all the young fencers and their parents who trekked to the Tidal Basin to be part of this event. Thanks to photographer Zach, who will be sharing his photos soon, and thanks to Coach Ilya V. Lobanenkov for leading the procession.

A very special salute and thanks to DCFC super trouper Valerie Asher, who braved NPS permit-land, hauled extra gear to the event, and offered the young participants some inspiring words about the fencing community.
