Fine fencing, teamwork, and medals at October North American Cup
DCFCers showed up in force at the first national event of the season, the October North American Cup, held October 9-12 in Richmond, Virginia. DCFCers pulled out some podium finishes and exciting fencing throughout the weekend.
Congratulations to Valerie Asher, Rebecca Chimahusky, Amanda Sirico, and Meghan Sirico on winning gold in Senior Team Women’s Epee.
A special salute to Margherita Guzzi Vincenti, who, won silver in the Division I Women’s Epee event after an amazing clawback semifinal bout against fellow Captiol Division member Kat Holmes.

Kudos also to Brooke Sirico, who took sixth place in the Division II Women’s Sabre event.
We also enjoyed watching the multigenerational Senior Men’s Epee Team of Theo Pary, David Ruskin, Matteo Rueda, and Justin Haddad.
Another Saturday highlight, watching Meghan Sirico make the cut in her first Div 1 Women’s Epee event and win a touch against Olympic Medalist Courtney Hurley. How many sports give you that opportunity?
We were also happy to see Daniel Sitbon-Taylor, who travelled from France to compete alongside his fellow DCFCers at this event.

The next two North American Cups take place November 13-16 (JR, CDT, Y14) in Kansas City, MO, and on December 4-7 in Baltimore, MD (DV1, DV2, VET) .
