GOLD FOR DCFC AT VET WORLDS!

DC Fencers Club salutes our very own Joe Deucher on his Team Gold at the 23rd Veteran World Fencing Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida last week.

Deucher took gold in Veteran Team Men’s Epee alongside teammates Walt Dragonetti, Fred Frank, James Newsome, Jon Normile, and Charlie Schneider.

“Vet Worlds,” held Oct. 11-16, is the premiere fencing event for fencers over age 50 and is conducted by the International Fencing Federation (FIE). Deucher joined fellow DCFC clubmates Carole Jeandheur and Valerie Asher and many other Team USA athletes who earned spots to the event based on best two out of three results from the 2022-2023 USA Fencing national season.

Team USA set a Vet Worlds record with 24 total medals — including 13 gold (also a record).

DCFC salutes clubmates Asher and Jeandheur on advancing to the top 16 (13) and 32 (23) respectively at the Vet 60 Women’s Epee Individual event at Vet Worlds.

DC Fencers Club has consistently sent fencers to the Veteran World Championships since they were first competed in 1998. DCFC’s own Kaz Campe took the World Champion title in Vet 60 Men’s Epee that year.
