DCFC congratulates all our fencers on bringing your best to the strip at the January 2014 North American Cup in Virginia Beach, VA last weekend.

In Senior Team Men’s Epee, DCFC team 1 (DCFC (Byron Neslund, Dennis Kraft, Nathan Bailey, and Matthew Neu,) made it to the bronze medal match, losing by one touch to the NYAC White team (anchored by DCFC member emeritus, James Kaull). DCFC’s second team, Steel Reserve (with Damien Lehfeldt. Conrad Sutter, Graham Wicas and Ben Wieder) advanced to the fifth place spot and may have earned points for best name.
Kudos to Peter Souders, who advanced to the T16 in Senior Men’s Sabre in a close bout against Olympian Darryl Homer (13-15).
Byron Neslund and Conrad Sutter advanced to the top 32 (28 and 32) in Senior Men’s Epee out of a monster field of 255 fencers.
Katherine Sizov made the top 32 (#20) in Junior Women’s Epee and Brooke Sirico advanced to the top 32 (#28) in Senior Women’s Epee.
Jacob Asch advanced to the top 32 (#30) in Junior Men’s Sabre.
DCFC salutes Margherita Guzzi Vincenti on her gold medal finish in Division I Women’s Epee at the Virginia Beach North American Cup. Margherita, who graduated from Penn State in December after an outstanding NCAA fencing career under Coach Emmanuil Kaidanov, plans to represent DC Fencers Club in the 2014-15 season.
