DC Fencers Club Congratulates Members on 12 Medals and Top Eight Results at 2011 USA Fencing Summer National Championships
Washington, DC – DC Fencers Club (DCFC) congratulates its fencers who brought home eight gold, silver, and bronze medals, and a total of twelve top eight results at the 2011 USA Fencing National Championships and July North American Cup, held on July 1-10 in Reno, Nevada. The winning DCFC fencers range from Youth 12 category fencers to Veteran 70 category. These 13 athletes were among more than 40 fencers from DCFC who competed in team and individual events at Summer Nationals, hosted by USA Fencing, the national governing body for this Olympic sport. This is the largest fencing tournament in the world, with more than 3,500 fencers of all ages from clubs around the country. The event served as the final qualifying tournament for the 2011 Veteran World Championships as well as the first qualifying event for the 2011 Junior and Cadet World Championships.

Kazimieras Campe (Edgewater, Md.) – Gold Medal, Men’s Veteran 70 Epee
James Adams (Rockville, Md.) – Silver Medal, Men’s Veteran 70 Epee, Foil, and Sabre
Valerie Asher (Bethesda, Md.) – Silver Medal, Women’s Veteran 50 Epee
Diane Trice (Silver Spring, Md.)– Bronze Medal, Women’s Veteran 50 Epee
Tina Cooper (Silver Spring, Md.)– 8th Place, Women’s Veteran 40 Epee
Adam Green (Chevy Chase, Md.) – 8th Place, Men’s Youth 12 Sabre
Isaac Shelanski (Washington, D.C.) – 8th Place, Men’s Youth 12 Epee
Lilly Lainoff (Washington, DC) — 7th place in Division II women’s sabre
