Kaz Campe’s milestone birthday bash

The ultimate Champagne Challenge took place on Sunday, March 19, when DCFCers old and new joined to celebrate Kazimieras Campe’s 80th birthday.

Kaz Campe is the senior most member of DC Fencers Club, and we toasted his milestone birthday this month with fencing and champagne at the club. Kaz fenced 80 touches against multiple opponents to celebrate his big day.

Kaz made history when he became the first American fencer to win a gold medal at a World Championship, when he took gold in Men’s 60+ epee at the 1998 Veteran Worlds in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.

Beyond his multitude of medals, Kaz is known as a mentor to many young and young-at-heart DCFC fencers, and we salute him on his big birthday! Thanks to everyone for joining us!
