Silver for Amanda Sirico at the October North American Cup

Congratulations to Amanda Sirico, who kicked off the 2017-2018 national season with a silver in the Division I Women’s Epee event on October 16 at the October North American Cup, held in Anaheim, California.

As the #2 seed in the event, she earned a bye into the second day of competition, where she sailed through pools with a +17 indicator. In the direct elimination rounds, she defeated five opponents meeting three-time Olympian Kelley Hurley in the finals, with a final score 15-10.

Sirico is a member of DC Fencers Club, where she trains with DCFC Head Coach Janusz Smolenski.

She is also making her mark on the NCAA fencing team at Notre Dame University, where she won the ACC individual championship title last March.  A few weeks later, she contributed to Notre Dame’s NCAA Championship title with a tie for third place which also earned her first-team All-American honors.
