Summer Nationals – That’s a Wrap!
And that’s a wrap! The 10-day extravaganza — aka Summer Nationals — came to a close today, and DCFCers continued to climb the ranks alongside 5,000+ fencers from around the country. Here are results from the last several days of competition.
Congratulations to Theo Pary on taking sixth place in the Vet 70 Men’s Epee event at Summer Nationals on Monday. Kudos also to Dan Wheeler, who took eighth place in the Vet 40 Men’s Epee event on the same day. Well done!
Emilie Reitinger made the top 64 (33) in Y14 Women’s Epee.
Sophia Jakel advanced to the top 16 (13) in Y12 Women’s Epee.
Soraya Henry climbed to the top 64 (33) in Y10 Women’s Sabre.
Gabriel Hilbert made the top 64 (44) in Y10 Men’s Epee.
Congratulations also goes out to Yunice Pyo, Justin Haddad, and Xavier Hilbert, who, in a special ceremony at Summer Nationals on Monday, were named to the USA Fencing All-Academic Team for their academic achievement (GPA of 3.85 or higher) during the 2017-18 school year.
We salute all our fencers on their dedication, smart training, and competitive spirit throughout the 2017-2018 season. Bravo to those who gave it their best at Summer Nationals. Thanks to our coaches, families, and friends for your support. Kudos to the entire crew that made Summer Nationals possible, from the USA Fencing staff (who even organized a parade presence for the Fourth), the bout committee (we see you there, Laura Johnson!) the referee cadre, and all the volunteers that contributed to the biggest fencing tournament in history to date.
Full results at the link below. We will see you back at the club on Monday, July 9 for the first of several weeks of fencing camps. Evening bouting also resumes on Monday. Until then, safe travels, and see you, St. Louis!
