TRY THE OLYMPIC SPORT OF FENCING AT DC FENCERS CLUB THIS FALL
Youth and adults can go for the gold with eight separate beginner fencing classes
SILVER SPRING, MD – Did you or your child watch fencing at the London 2012 Olympics and say "Hey, I'd like to try that." Now is your chance. This fall, DC Fencers Club offers eight separate beginner fencing classes for youth, teens, homeschoolers, and an all-ages/all levels class. Classes take place at DC Fencers Club, a dedicated fencing facility in Silver Spring, MD.
Modern fencing is an Olympic sport with roots in European swordfighting of centuries past. Today, fencing is a competitive sport of finesse, skill, strategy and endurance. Fencing promotes fitness, confidence, and good sportsmanship, and is often called “physical chess” for its strategic and mental challenges. And fencing is fun!
DC Fencers Club offers instruction in epee and sabre. Epee (pronounced “eh-PAY”) means sword in French, and this fencing weapon is based on the rapier, the traditional dueling weapon. The sabre is descended from the slashing cavalry sword.
Beginner fencing classes at DC Fencers club fit every schedule, with eight separate starter classes on weekdays, weeknights, and Saturdays. Fencing equipment (uniform and gear) is provided for beginners, just show up and have fun! All beginner fencing classes take place at DC Fencers Club, located minutes from the Beltway in Silver Spring, MD. Most classes are $185 for an eight-week session. To register, visit the "Beginner classes" page of www.dcfencing.com. For more information on getting involved in this Olympic sport, call 301-562-1990 or email .
