Two-fer weekend in June – fence at the Amazon Open or get certified at Referee Clinic

On the weekend of June 8-9, we invite you to a two-for-one opportunity.
Calling all parents, fencers, and fencing fans. Becoming a certified referee is a quick route to understanding the sport and may help cover tournament travel costs! On June 8-9, the Capitol Division is hosting a referee clinic run by Brad Baker, who is an active FIE-rated referee in all three weapons and former member of the Fencing Officials Commission. Baker currently serves as secretary of USA Fencing and coaches at Temple University. The seminar will be Saturday at Chevy Chase Community Center and the practical exam will be held on Sunday at DC Fencers Club in conjunction with the tenth annual Amazon Open.
Capitol Division members who take a referee clinic and obtain a rating will be reimbursed the cost of the clinic. Please see the Capitol Division web site for details.

Women Warriors Wanted! Join us, Sunday, June 9, 2013 at DC Fencers Club, Silver Spring, MD for this two-weapon event. The women’s epee tournament has been one of the strongest women’s tournaments in the Mid-Atlantic. Cool prizes as well as gift certificates provided by Absolute Fencing.
