Update – DCFC at Summer Nationals
More than two dozen DCFC fencers are competing in the 2018 USA Fencing Summer National Championships and July Challenge, which takes place June 28 – July 7.
Here are highlights to from Thursday through Sunday’s events.
A grand salute to Kristin Foellmer, who took gold and the Vet 40 Women’s Epee Championship title. Brava, Kristin! Peter Souders gave another demonstration of his consistent top results with a bronze in the Division I Men’s Sabre event. Well done, Peter! Rebecca Chimahusky made the top 16 in Division 1 Women’s Epee. Way to go, Rebecca!
Sam Cohen made the top 64 (57) in Junior Men’s Sabre. Justin Haddad advance to the top 64 in Division I Men’s Epee (47) and two days later made the top 32 (25) in Junior Men’s Epee. Andrew Nosil took a top 64 (38) in the same event and also made the top 32 (29) in Division i-A Men’s Epee. Avo Reid also climbed to the top 64 in the Div I-A event (40) Yunice Pyo advanced to the top 64 (42) in In Div 1-A and Cadet Women’s Epee (34).
On Sunday, teamwork made the dream work, with double medals in the Women’s Senior Team Epee event. Congratulations to gold medalists Team USA (Amanda Sirico, Kat Holmes, Kelley and Courtney Hurley) and to bronze medalists TC/DC (Rebecca Chimahusky, Marie Lawson, and Azaline Dunlop-Smith).
